Sony Launches RX0 II, World’s Smallest and Lightest Premium Compact Camera

Sony Electronics today introduced an exciting new addition to its highly popular compact camera line-up with the launch of the world’s smallest and lightest premium compact camera, the RX0 II (model DSC-RX0M2). Building upon the waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, crushproof and ultra-compact qualities of the original RX0, the new model now offers internal 4K recording, an adjustable LCD screen that tilts upward 180 degrees and downward 90 degrees and that even works underwater and new image stabilization solutions for video recording.

At the heart of the RX0 II sits a 1.0-type stacked 15.3-megapixel Exmor RS CMOS image sensor and an advanced BIONZ X image processing engine that offer enhanced color reproduction, including beautiful skin tones. Cosina Announces Voigtlander 21mm F3.5 Sony E-Mount Lens

Last week Cosina announced their new Voigtlander Color Skopar 21mm f/3.5 E-mount lens. It’s priced at ¥ 85,000 and will start shipping in October.

As with other Voigtlander E-mount lenses, electronic contact transmit EXIF information of the shooting data. In addition, because it incorporates a distance encoder, it supports 5-axis camera shake correction on the camera body side. It is also possible to enlarge the viewfinder by operating the focus ring.

In addition to securing full-size image circle, it adopts optical design optimized for Sony E mount sensor. High resolution is maintained up to the periphery of the screen, and phenomena such as color hue are suppressed. Its optical design consists of 9 elements in 8 groups (one aspherical surface plus an anomalous partial dispersion element).

By adopting a total metal helicoid unit machined and adjusted with high accuracy and high quality grease producing moderate torque, smooth operation feeling is realized. It enables delicate focus adjustment.

The minimum focus distance is 20 centimetres allowing an unique ultra wide angle perspective and the lens only weighs 230 grams.

NZ Photographer Wins Grand Prize at 2018 Sony Alpha Awards

Last night marked the third year of the Sony Alpha Awards, showcasing the very best of Australian and New Zealand photography using the Sony Alpha camera range. Over 5,000 stunning images were submitted from both professional and amateur photographers, for the chance to be recognised and celebrated for their talents.

The winners across the seven categories were carefully selected by Sony Global Digital Imaging Ambassadors and professional Australian photographers, Craig Parry and Mark Galer. Each category winner received $2,000 worth of Sony camera gear, and the Grand Prize Winner, Ilan Wittenberg from Auckland, received a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Tanzania with World Photo Adventures, plus $3,000 of Sony Alpha gear.
